Abstract

Developing Multimedia English CALL Software on Windows 95:
Possibilities of Hand-made Software

This article reports the authors' attempt to develop multimedia CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) software on Windows 95 by using Microsoft Visual Basic 4.0 First, several reasons for selecting Windows 95 as our platform OS are summarized. Then, the authors' principles (both thecnical and educational) for the software development are reported. In the fourth section, a prototype software resulting from these principles are explained in details. In the fifth section, the authors discuss the feedbacks made by the useres of this prototype. Future research directions as well as some remaining shortcomings are mentioned in the last section.
